Possible applications of special material 1.4571 A5

Material 1.4571 – The third highest level
for our special materials in stainless steel

1.4571 stainless steel occupies the third highest level amongst our special materials. In the imagery of chess, it is therefore not quite a “king or queen”. Because of its wide range of uses,
you might think of it as a solid worker like a “Castle”. Material 1.4571 belongs to steel grade A5 and is the most frequently used material in this steel grade.
The DIBt classifies it in Corrosion Resistance Class (CRC) III (medium) for components and connecting elements. Important applications for the stainless austenitic steel are inaccessible constructions or structures with moderate sulphur dioxide and chloride contamination levels. Our customers particularly like to take advantage of our large stock of 1.4571 threaded rods.
We can also offer our customers a cutting service for the threaded rods on request.

The key properties of special material 1.4571

Due to its titanium stabilization, 1.4571 stainless steel demonstrates good corrosion resistance and is very well suited to use in the chemical industry. In a heat-treated state, it shows an almost completely pronounced austenitic structure. With the exception of gas welding, it is easy to weld using all procedures. Owing to its titanium content, however, high-gloss polishing of the material is not possible. Material 1.4571 is
not suitable for permanent use in seawater or in a sea-air environment.

The applications of special material 1.4571 in connection technology

In contrast to special material 1.4462, 1.4571 stainless steel is not suitable for use in seawater or in areas close to the sea. Its main areas of application are to be found constructions with moderate chloride and sulphur dioxide contamination levels and inaccessible constructions.
It is the most frequently used material amongst A5 steel grade materials, and is often used in chemical apparatus engineering or exhaust gas technology and wastewater treatment.

Products where material A5 | 1.4571 is used include:

and many more

We inform you about the selection of suitable materials available in our section on Corrosion resistance classes (CRC).

In addition to the popular stainless steels, A2 and A4, we also have 1.4571 stainless steel in stock for you. This availability sets us apart in the industry. The special material can be recognized at a glance by the colour blue in our practical colour coding system.

It is important to mention here that the name A5 often gets confused with W5 or CRC V. These are different things, however. W5/CRC V stands for Resistance Class 5, while A5 stands for the type of material. A5 steel has Resistance Class III, not W5! If you are looking for a material in Resistance Class W5, 1.4529 stainless steel is the right choice for you.
